Chopard L.U.C 1860: A Tribute to 30 Years of Chopard Manufacture
An Icon, Revisited
The new L.U.C 1860 remains deeply faithful to the original — preserving the proportions, restraint, and quiet confidence that made it a collector’s reference.
The 36.5 mm case reflects a deliberate choice: a return to balanced, classic watchmaking. Crafted in Lucent Steel™, it offers both durability and an elevated brilliance that sets it apart from traditional steel.
At its centre is the “Areuse Blue” dial — a tone inspired by the river flowing through the Val-de-Travers region, where Chopard Manufacture was founded. The colour shifts subtly with light, bringing depth and movement to an otherwise restrained composition.
The Art of the Dial
What defines this piece is not excess, but detail.
The dial is crafted from 18-carat gold and finished using traditional hand-guilloché techniques. Each pattern is cut using historic lathes, operated entirely by hand – a process that very few manufactures continue to preserve today.
Concentric textures catch the light differently across the surface, while the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock anchors the composition with symmetry and restraint.
There is no date window. Only balance, texture, and clarity.
Inside the Movement
Beneath the surface sits the L.U.C Calibre 96.40-L — an evolution of the original movement that defined the collection.
Ultra-thin at just 3.30 mm, it is powered by a 22-carat gold micro-rotor and Chopard’s Twin technology, delivering a 65-hour power reserve with remarkable efficiency.
It is also:
- Chronometer-certified (COSC) for precision
- Finished to Poinçon de Genève standards
- Hand-decorated across every visible surface
This is not simply mechanical performance.
It is watchmaking at its most disciplined and refined.
A Legacy in Motion
The L.U.C collection carries the initials of Louis-Ulysse Chopard — the founder whose vision continues to shape the Maison today.
Since the first L.U.C calibre in 1996, Chopard Manufacture has remained committed to vertical integration, craftsmanship, and innovation — producing movements entirely in-house while preserving traditional métiers.
This anniversary edition does not look backward for nostalgia.
It moves forward — with everything that has been learned along the way.
